MTBC HISTORY

Introduction

The Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) is the national governing body entrusted with the development, regulation, and promotion of tenpin bowling in Malaysia. For decades under our previous president, the late Dato’ Dr PS Nathan, MTBC has played a pivotal role in nurturing talent, strengthening grassroots programs, and guiding elite athletes to compete with pride on regional and international stages.

Driven by a commitment to excellence, integrity, and unity to better our sport, MTBC works closely with athletes, coaches, officials, affiliates, and government body to build a sustainable and inclusive bowling ecosystem. From youth development to high-performance pathways, our mission is not only to produce champions, but also to uphold the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and national pride.

As Malaysian bowling continues to evolve, MTBC remains dedicated to adapting, innovating, and leading the sport forward—ensuring that every bowler, at every level, has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

A Word from the President

It is with great pride and responsibility that I serve as the President of the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress. Bowling in Malaysia has a rich history, built on the hard work, sacrifices, and passion of many individuals—MTBC Council Members, MTBC officials, coaches, athletes, volunteers and supporters—who have contributed tirelessly to the sport we love.

At MTBC, our focus goes beyond medals and rankings. We are committed to building strong foundations, empowering our athletes, and creating clear pathways for future generations. Success is not achieved overnight; it is shaped through consistency, discipline, and collective effort. Every achievement we celebrate today is the result of years of perseverance and belief.

As we move forward, MTBC will continue to emphasize good governance, athlete welfare, and sustainable development. The recent addition of Malaysian Para Bowling team under MTBC reflects our belief that the growth of bowling must be inclusive, accessible, and representative of all athletes. Dedicated efforts are being made to develop the para bowling pathway through structured programs, athlete identification, technical support, and competition exposure—ensuring para bowlers receive the recognition, guidance, and opportunities they deserve.

This commitment is further strengthened by MTBC’s membership to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) and recently with Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPC). These affiliations reinforce MTBC’s alignment with national sporting standards, governance frameworks, and long-term athlete development goals across both able-bodied and para disciplines.

We welcome collaboration, fresh ideas, and shared responsibility as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

I extend my sincere appreciation to all who continue to support Malaysia bowling. Together, let us strengthen the sport, uphold its values, and proudly carry Malaysia’s name on every lane we compete on. We serve to better our sport.
