2026 IBF World Youth Championships Conclude in Kuching with Memorable Performances

The 2026 IBF World Youth Championships came to a successful close after eleven days of world-class competition at Megalanes Sarawak, Malaysia, from 27 June to 7 July 2026. Hosted by the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) and ABAS Sarawak, in collaboration with the International Bowling Federation (IBF) the championship welcomed 218 youth athletes from 34 member federations, competing across 4 disciplines in pursuit of world titles.

Throughout the tournament, spectators witnessed outstanding displays of talent, resilience and sportsmanship as the world's best youth bowlers battled through Singles, Doubles, Team and Mixed Team events. Nations from Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas shared the honours, highlighting the depth of talent in international youth bowling.
The final day belonged to the host nation, as Malaysia produced an unforgettable performance by capturing two gold medals and one bronze medal. Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee and Adania Mohd Redzwan ended Malaysia's 20-year wait for a Girls' Doubles world title before joining Ethan Damien Goh and Muhammad Aiman Syahin Sulaiman to claim the Mixed Team gold in front of the home crowd. The girls also added a bronze medal in the Girls' Team event, capping off one of Malaysia's finest campaigns in World Youth Championship history.

Gold: Emil Svensson (Sweden)
Defeated Australia's Julian Dinham to claim the Boys' Singles world title.
Girls' Singles
Gold: Katelyn Abigania (United States)
Won an all-American final against Gianna Brandolino to secure the Girls' Singles crown.
Boys' Doubles
Gold: Roni Leskinen & Juho Vuoppola (Finland)
The Finnish pair defeated Qatar to become Boys' Doubles World Champions.
Girls' Doubles
Gold: Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee & Adania Mohd Redzwan (Malaysia)
Defeated the United States to deliver Malaysia's first gold medal of the championship and its first Girls' Doubles world title since 2006.
Boys' Team
Gold: Finland
Produced a consistent performance throughout the Baker-format competition to secure the Boys' Team title.
Girls' Team
Gold: United States
Claimed the Girls' Team championship after an impressive run through the knockout stages.
Mixed Team
Gold: Malaysia

Malaysia defeated Finland in the final to secure the Mixed Team world title, completing a memorable finish to the championship on home soil.

The tournament was delivered to the highest international standard, giving athletes and officials an outstanding championship experience thanks to the efforts of the organising committee, volunteers, technical officials, lane maintenance crew, media staff, sponsors, and numerous behind-the-scenes contributors.
