The Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) celebrated a momentous triumph at the National Sports Awards 2024, with two prestigious accolades highlighting the organization’s outstanding contributions to Malaysian sports.

The pinnacle of the event saw Mr. Sunny Si, Deputy President of MTBC and Founding President of the Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (ABAS), being bestowed with the esteemed Leadership Award. With an illustrious career spanning 37 years, Mr. Sunny has been a driving force in Malaysian bowling since establishing ABAS in 1988. His visionary leadership has transformed Sarawak into a bowling powerhouse, nurturing talent and elevating the sport’s standards nationwide. His relentless dedication has not only strengthened grassroots development but also propelled Malaysian bowlers to international success. He has also been instrumental in assisting the development of sports in Sarawak in many different capacities.

Adding to the glory, the Malaysian women’s bowling team was named Team of the Year, a testament to their dominant performance at the 27th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Bangkok (2024). The squad, consisting of Sin Li Jane, Natasha Roslan, Gillian Lim, Nora Lyana Nastasia Norkamal, Nur Syazwani Sahar, and Faten Najihah Ahmad Faik, clinched an impressive haul of 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, securing the overall championship title.

These accolades underscore MTBC’s commitment to excellence and the impactful leadership of individuals like Mr. Sunny Si, whose decades of service continue to inspire future generations. The achievements of the Malaysian women’s team further cement Malaysia’s reputation as a bowling powerhouse in Asia and the World.

As the nation celebrates these milestones, the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress remains steadfast in its mission to develop talent, foster sportsmanship, and achieve greater heights in international competitions.
