1 Gold, 4 Bronze for the Home Team; Singapore Dominates with 6 Gold
The 22nd Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships concluded yesterday at Sunway Mega Lanes, Sunway Pyramid, after nine days of exciting competition among Asia’s rising bowling talents. Hosted from 20–28 August 2025, the championship brought together 14 participating nations, all vying for glory in one of the region’s most prestigious youth bowling events.
Competing on home ground, Team Malaysia delivered a commendable performance to finish 4th overall, earning 1 Gold and 4 Bronze medals. The highlight of Malaysia’s campaign came from the Boys Doubles event, where the pairing of Aiman Syahin and Ethan Damien Goh bowled with precision and composure to secure the country’s sole Gold medal of the tournament. Despite stiff competition, Malaysia’s young keglers showed promising talent and resilience across multiple events, earning Bronze medals in various categories that contributed to their solid top-four finish.
Meanwhile, Singapore set the standard when their camp emerged as the overall champions, dominating the lanes with a total of 6 Gold medals, underlining the depth and quality of their youth development program. Hazel Tan Wei Ning led the charge with a gold in the Girls Singles, while Aiman Raedyn Lim Jen claimed the Boys Singles title shortly after. Singapore’s prowess was further cemented in the Girls Doubles, where Nur Irdina Binte Hazly and Lim Shi En clinched gold, all while contributing to the Girl's Team of Four, striking another gold for Singapore. Lim Shi En continued her medal haul by topping the Girls All-Events category, and on the last day of the championship, Mike Ong Jing Loong sealed Singapore’s 6th gold with a victory in the Boys Masters.
Kuwait and South Korea impressed the crowds with stellar performance. Kuwait steamrolled the Boy's categories with their first gold in Team of Four, while Hassan Qasem striking his own gold in the Boys All-Events. South Korea settled third in standing, but shows remarkable consistency with 1 Gold and 7 Silvers. Their lone Gold came from Paek Ye Dam, who outclassed the field in the Girls Masters final.
While Team Youth Malaysia may have hoped for a higher medal haul on home soil, the exposure and experience gained will be invaluable in shaping the future of our young bowlers.
