Grieving Rafiq bowls his heart out.

Malaysian national bowler Rafiq Ismail delivered a powerful and emotional performance to win the Samho Cup in South Korea, just one day after the passing of his father, Ismail Nimat, who succumbed to kidney complications at the age of 72.
Despite the heartbreak, Rafiq showed extraordinary resilience, defeating South Korea’s Lim Seung Won 256-224 in the final held at Bowltopia, Yongin. The 27-year-old described the victory as deeply personal, marking a poignant moment in his career.

“I felt my father’s presence with me throughout the match,” Rafiq shared. “Though I couldn’t be with him in his final moments, this win is for him. It’s something I’ll carry with me forever.

We at MTBC stand strong behind our national bowler Rafiq Ismail and his family in this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences, and may Rafiq Ismail and his family stay strong.
